Wexford

Hi all!

I just made the move to Wexford, and that’s why I’ve been off-line for so long. I only came to this town one month ago and I think I’ll be here for a good while.
The town itself is very nice. Its Irish name is Loch Garman. How come? That’s because of a local legend, again!, which says that this guy, Garman Garbh, was drowned by an enchantress and the vast harbour created was then called the “Lake of Garman”. It’s a very nice story, but the lake is the estuary of the river Slaney and the town was actually founded by the Vikings. The name Wexford is derived from Waesfjord, the “Land of Mud Flats”, in whatever they spoke.

Here I drop some links about this part of Ireland if anyone is interested to check them out before a proper visit.

And that’s it for the moment! I’ll leave some photos as soon as I can, as well as the new Flickr albums I’ve been updating lately. Links on your right, as usual.
